Job Purpose:
The Career Centre Intern will be responsible for assisting the manager with the placement of graduates and the overall planning and execution of events as required by the Career Services Centre.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Execute E-mail campaigns.
- Provide graduates with an overview of job requirements and potential employers.
- Acquire job descriptions and specifications for entry-level roles.
- Align graduate CVs from the database with job descriptions and company specifications.
- Present candidates during in-person meetings with prospective employers whenever feasible.
- Inquire and verify that CVs align with the expectations of the prospective employer.
- Coordinate interviews with selected graduates.
- Follow up with graduates to ensure they are thoroughly prepared for their first day at the office.
- Check in with graduates at the conclusion of their first day and first week at the office.
- Follow up with the employer at the end of the graduate’s first day.
- Reach out to the employer two to four weeks after the graduate’s employment.
- Update the database with comprehensive details, including the graduate’s new position, title, and salary information.
- Gather feedback from the company regarding their overall impression of the candidates presented.
- Generate statistical data and reports as necessary for reporting purposes.
- Assist the department in placing RC graduates.
- Prepare graduates who will be recommended for potential vacancies by the department.
- Process graduate CVs submitted to the department according to the established requirements.
- Draft reports on workshops, placements, graduate achievements, etc., for publication by the Communications Department or as directed by your manager.
- Support the manager in planning and executing events such as exhibitions, job shadowing, learnerships, internships, and voluntary work experiences that promote the services provided by the department.
- Schedule graduates for Graduate Work Readiness coaching sessions.
- Organize logistics for workshops, which includes reserving a meeting room, arranging necessary equipment, and catering.
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric (Grade 12).
- Relevant 3-year Diploma or Degree in Sales, Marketing, Human Resources, or a Related Qualification.
