JOB DESCRIPTION:

The objective of this position is to ensure that products are delivered correctly and on time, in satisfactory condition as anticipated by the client. This involves interacting with customers and personnel from various branches, overseeing the loading and unloading of shipments, and ensuring that the delivery vehicle is well-maintained through daily inspections, while also delivering excellent customer service. This approach will lead to enhanced customer satisfaction, drive sales, and foster sustainable growth and profit margins for the business.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service
  • Complete daily trip sheets (including opening/closing kilometers and departure/arrival times)
  • Conduct a daily pre-trip inspection of the vehicle to verify basic roadworthiness (noted on the trip sheet)
  • Report any vehicle defects to the Supervisor (by filling out a vehicle repair report)
  • Ensure that truck assistants remain with the vehicle at all times
  • Plan and execute the most efficient route to the customer
  • Confirm that all outgoing stock has the necessary documentation prior to loading
  • Record all transferred documents in the logbook
  • Ensure the transfer logbook is signed by the receiving branch
  • Guarantee that all stock is delivered in excellent condition
  • Submit weekly evaluation reports to the Supervisor
  • Notify the Supervisor of any delays at branches
  • Report to the Supervisor at the end of the day
  • Engage in perpetual stock takes
  • Carry out any work-related tasks assigned by a superior.

Educational Requirements:

  • Matriculation or completion of three Intercept courses totaling 120 credits.
  • Candidates lacking Matric but possessing a valid driver’s license and three years of driving experience will also be eligible for consideration.
  • A Code 10 Driver’s License is required, with a higher code being advantageous.
  • A Public Driving Permit (PDP) for both goods and passengers is necessary.
  • Applicants must have a minimum of three years of driving experience, demonstrate the ability to work under pressure, possess monitoring skills, and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Proficiency in reading and high-level communication is essential, along with an understanding of vehicle loading.
  • Strong planning, time management, and organizational skills are also required.
