Key Responsibilities:

Stock Management & Merchandising

  • Ensure shelves are fully stocked, neatly presented, and products are within their sell-by dates.
  • Restock merchandise promptly to maximize sales and minimize out-of-stock situations.
  • Follow up on customer out-of-stock queries in line with company procedures.
  • Organize delivered stock and storeroom items in their correct locations.
  • Verify merchandise displays, labels, and pricing—report discrepancies to management.
  • Maintain a clean, well-organized storeroom and assist with stock rotation.
  • Report low stock levels, damaged goods, and expired items to management.
  • Assist with stock counts, stocktaking, and loading/unloading deliveries.
  • Flatten and dispose of empty boxes in designated areas.

Customer Service & Sales

  • Provide friendly, professional, and helpful assistance to all customers.
  • Stay updated on new products to offer accurate advice.
  • Handle customer complaints and compliments, escalating to management when necessary.
  • Process exchanges and returns as authorized by the Frontshop Leader.
  • Maintain company benchmarks for customer turnover per hour.

Cash Handling & Transactions

  • Process payments (cash, cards, vouchers, coupons) accurately.
  • Manage loyalty card registrations and partner promotions.
  • Ensure cash is securely deposited in the drop safe per company procedures.
  • Obtain approval for line voids and price changes from authorized personnel.
  • Keep daily takings (cash, cheques, vouchers, etc.) secure until deposited.
  • Verify outgoing stock/items/scripts are scanned and paid for.

Security & Compliance

  • Report suspicious behavior (staff or customers) to management.
  • Follow Dis-Chem’s Health & Safety regulations and company policies.
  • Adhere to uniform and personal appearance guidelines.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards as per company requirements.

Additional Duties:

  • Assist in training new and existing team members.
  • Support back shopping and other operational tasks as needed.
