JOB DESCRIPTION.
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking an experienced Cashier for their location in Kenilworth. Provide customer service at the point of sale while ensuring a top-tier shopping experience. Accurately record customer transactions using the Dis-Chem operating system in accordance with company policies and standard operating procedures, maintaining a strict zero tolerance for inaccuracies and minimizing fraud risk.
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- A minimum of 6 months of experience in cashier or till operations.
- Proficient in computer use – MS Office.
- Strong numerical skills.
- Excellent command of the English language.
- Basic customer service skills.
- Willing and able to work retail hours.
Description:
- Follow Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures.
- Develop a professional rapport with customers.
- Communicate customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management.
- Comply with the customer turnover hourly rate.
- Stay informed about current sales and promotions.
- Ensure that colleagues and customers are not exposed to any risks.
- Implement and uphold Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles.
- Take responsibility for cash flow management.
- Ensure that all line voids and price adjustments receive approval and are signed off by the supervisor.
- Facilitate merchandise exchanges for customers and accept returns when authorized.
- Process all transactions – receive and handle all forms of payment (cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, and other accepted payment methods) at Dis-Chem.
- Manage all loyalty cards, including those from our accelerator partners (Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks).
- Ensure cash is deposited in the drop safe in accordance with Dis-Chem’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Restrict the use of your code and password to yourself; ensure it is secure and updated regularly.
- Verify that all outgoing stock/items/scripts are scanned and paid for.
- Ensure that all cash is securely stored within the till.
- Handle daily takings with confidentiality and discuss only with management.
- Remain vigilant, identify, and report any suspicious behavior to management.
- Address inquiries related to store merchandise.
- Comply with Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures.
