Fidelity Security Services Division requires candidates with a minimum of mid-senior level experience in the Security and Investigations industry, specifically within the Mining functional area.

Health and Safety Officer – Mining at Fidelity Services Group, Rustenburg, North West, Permanent Position

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The primary objective of this role is to guarantee compliance with all site-specific security protocols while consistently addressing the client’s requirements in a professional and efficient manner. This role involves the formulation and implementation of a proactive strategy for Health and Safety practices across various mining locations in the North West region. It is essential to manage all resources effectively to ensure the delivery of high-quality services.

Essential qualifications, experience, and competencies include:

  • 1. A Matric certificate with Grade A/B and PSIRA registration.
  • 2. A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in the Security Industry, preferably within the Mining sector.
  • 3. Comprehensive knowledge of ISO compliance standards 9001/14001/27001/23001 and their requirements.
  • 4. Significant expertise in Organisational and Environmental Health and Safety, with relevant qualifications such as SAMTRAC, Risk Management, and Environmental Health & Safety Management being vital.
  • 5. Coordination of Service Level Agreements (SLA) and contracts.
  • 6. A highly analytical individual with outstanding problem-solving abilities.
  • 7. Capability to manage and discipline personnel.
  • 8. Strong skills in Operational Planning, Leadership, and Organisation, along with effective Interpersonal Communication and Client Liaison abilities.
  • 9. Proficient in computer use, particularly in MS Word and Excel, and familiar with the latest technological advancements.
  • 10. Must be able to perform under pressure and work extended hours as necessary.
  • 11. A valid, unendorsed driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to use it for business purposes.
  • 12. No criminal record or pending legal issues.
  • 13. Contactable references are required.
  • 14. Candidates should reside in Rustenburg or nearby areas.

Job Description (Not entirely comprehensive):

  • Overseeing the relationship between Fidelity Security Services Group and the Client concerning the Security Services provided.
  • Continuously assessing the quality of services delivered and advising the Client on potential enhancements.
  • Conducting ongoing evaluations of the Client’s facilities to minimize unauthorized access and implementing multiple security measures to deter potential criminals.
  • Preparing health and safety recommendations based on evaluations and reporting findings to the Client.
  • Ensuring that Health & Safety documentation is organized and current.
  • Verifying that all Security Officers on site fulfill the contractual obligations set forth by the Client.
  • Providing pertinent monthly reports to the Client and Management.
  • Assisting in the management of shrinkage budgets as outlined by the Client.
  • Participating in regular meetings with the Client and Senior Management.
  • Delivering monthly Health & Safety reports to the Client and Management.
  • Training Security Staff and Management on Client-specific procedures and systems.
  • Engaging daily with Senior Management to address health and safety issues.
